Anyone know where in the UK it is possible to get hold of the Bowfin (Amia calva)?

Never seen one here but i would try TRIMAR or WHARFto see if they could get you one, as its a coldwater fish i should think its on the UK banned list but you never know.

as far as I know, they or banned under one of the cites lists. they are endangered spicies and if one were to become available then you would be looking at over £1000 to get one.

I don't think they are on CITES. As far as I know they are common as dirt in the USA.

Arowanas are common here...but a bowfin is different isn't (or species)????

Sondan

Yes, Arowanas are different to Amia. Arowanas are Teleosts, whereas Amia is a Holost like the Gars.
