Hi, I just got my CO2 regulator and solenoid.

Only problem is its fitted with an American 2 prong parallel plug. Now on the solenoid it says

MODEL:A2A AC-100V-230V

Power consumption
AC 110V 10VA 10mSec (Inrush)
0.25VA (Hold)
AC 220V 40VA 10mSec (Inrush)
1VA (Hold)

Am I correct in thinking that I can safely use this with a adapter plug or indeed replacing the plug with a UK one.

Thanks

yeah, use an adaptor or change the plug.

Thanks, just got to decide what to do now. I want to replace the plug but my mums worried it will be unsafe and wants me to buy an adapter.

Strikes me having a US Plug going into a UK adapter going into a timer and finally plugging into a UK socket will be more dangerous and unsightly than me replacing the plug.

it will only draw the current it needs...all those adaptors do is connect the 2 pin to 3 pin it wont be earthed though.

Be safest to change the plug which is a very simple job that way it is earthed for sure.

Hadn't thought of a shaver adapter, bound to be able to pick one up cheap (poundland  ) Cheers.

Yeah its never going to be earthed and isn't supposed to be, personally I'd rather rewire the plug as it will look neater.

Not sure what that does to the warranty though, probably make it worthless.

yeah warranty will be voided. cheapest place i have seen them is 26p from Wilko's :good:

Yeah I figured, its a pet hate of mine that companies producing aquatic equipment put moulded plugs on things then void the warranty if their replaced, surely its only common sense that fish keepers are more than likely to need to remove the plugs in order to wire the equipment into cabinets etc.

That's why I always use habistat equipment for my reptiles, they understand that plugs have to be removed and actually advise doing it in the instructions.

I doubt however that I'll ever have any luck claiming warranty from Azoo, but for just now I'll get the shaver adapter, keep mother happy  and protect any warranty I may have.

Hi,
If you want it to look tidy you could always get one of the adapters that house the 2 pin plug. that way It looks like a standard uk plug without any cutting, voiding your warranty and all this while keeping your mum happy. :good:
