Hi

I bought an amazon sword and it came in a black pot with foam inside it.

Do I plant it like this or take it out??

You can do either its up to you

keeping in the pot make it easier for you to remove from the substrate
when re-designing your tank (you will) but removing from the pot will
encourage quicker plant growth

What I did was I took as much foam from the roots without disturbing them and took the pot and put it aside. I cleared some of the gravel from the aquarium bottom and put the plant down and covered the roots up. Make sure you dont get the crown of the roots covered or it might rot off. Dont ask me about that, thats just what somene said at the lfs.
