I was reading a magaziene and I read about the amazon leaf fish.
I'm not curious about it. I'd love to keep it...Singley of course, I know it doesn't like tankmates...lol...

I know:
  • Grows 3-4 inches
  • FW of course
  • Preditor
  • Should be kept alone
  • meat eater
Anyother know?
Should this be posted in oddballs? I know its a south american....I don't know if its a cichlid though.
Any help appreiciated

Leaf fish are nandids , belonging to the perch family , as many other families of fish [ including cichlids ] do .

I'm pretty sure CFC has a profile on this fish in the index ........

I had gotten my Son [ Dwarfs ] 2 false leaf fish [ he has a profile ], very similar as far as requirements .

Yes they eat meat , but more importantly only live food , we never got ours to eat even previously live food .

Keeping up on a constant supply of live food was in the end too much for us ..........

ours ate live brine shrimp , guppies and other fish fry we had in the house , it never ate meal worms , not sure about earth worms , but may have eaten crickets .

Still water , plants [ live or artificial ] , water on the soft side , and of course live foods , a fish for advanced aquarists

It looks like a very interesting fish...I'm think about the amazon, not false.
It'd be kinda hard to keep it in a showcase spot...
But I'll certianly think about it.
Thanks for that.
