I have just bought three female guppies from my LFS, stupidly took advice from a compatitbility chart online and the staff at the shop. I bought them to put in with my male betta.. oops.

Since not showing few signs of being interested in them he now thinks they are food! I need to get the guppies out of there before he kills them (dont worry I have a tropical community tank that they can go in.

However and here comes the stupid question..... how the hell do you catch the things!!

My tank is quite densely planted for the bettas sake, are there any tricks to catching the fast little buggers?!

ANY advice will be most welcome!!!

I'm no expert with fish, but maybe if you put some food in the tank, they'll go to the top and you can catch em from there? sorry, it's not great advice, but it could possibly work..

Yes, I have made this mistake as well. Lets just say many guppies lost their tails....

Anyhow, a very easy way to catch them is to take a 500mL or 2L pop or water bottle, cut the top area off where it begins to get smaller, then just below the cap. Turn the piece that is now cut inside out into the bottle, and put an algae disc inside. Put it in your tank, and the guppies will be so tempted to eat the algae disc, they'll swim right into the "secret" trap. Once they're all inside, take out the bottle, and move the guppies to any tank you wish to put them in. It sounds super confusing, but watch the video, and it will all make sense. It saves SO much time! :)

There ya' go!
Good luck! :good:

I just put some dried blood worms in and the guppies shoot to get there first and devour them
