Hey guys,

Have a read of this:

Great photos of the tank as well! Strikes me as slightly odd practices, at least from what I've read! What do you guys think???

Wow he has made that complicated, funny when he then says about it being a relaxing hobby? Sounds like he has a bit of an OCD issue with that glass cleaning, bet his clean-up crew are bored, reckon if you look behind the rocks they will be playing cards or having a crabs vs snails football match. I bet his kitchen cupboards in alphabetical order, he irons his socks and he has actually rated all his songs 1-5 stars on i-tunes too.

Class! Lol..........can just picture his snails and hermits sitting round a tiny piece of LR playing poker!

Stunning tank, would be nice to have nothing else to spend the money one , wife, kids ;)
Giving him credit though, if its worth doing, its worth doing right :)

Only one thing there seemed a bit strange to me.

Every other Wednesday, I allow the tank to remain completely dark for the entire day. The room stays dark as well. Why? Because I believe it replicates those stormy or overcast days which they are accustomed to in their natural environment. On the following day, the photoperiod returns to normal and all of the mushrooms seem to expand like crazy for a few days after. I don’t know why.

Would seem to me that if the shrooms are relying mainly on photosynthesis (rather than abundant feedings), maximizing surface area immediately after a period of light deprivation would be a compensation mechanism to maximize light recieved and step up photosynthesis for a while.

Yeah truly lovely tank, the man deserves huge gratz, but can't believe you would give up your wife and kids for an hour of wiping down glass every day and one whole day every week spent in the dark. I bet he has night vision specs and only has sandwiches in case cooking raises the temp of the water.
I'm not really being cruel, well ok I am a bit but I think there is a lot of scope for humour in this, I just have a great mental picture and wanted to share it.
