wow. i got some microworm starter cultures for my betta fish fry, and i subcultured each of the 2 starters into 8 gladware cups.

not even a week and all EIGHT of the cups are thriving ... wow ... i thought i was really gunna screw something up with those tiny worms, couldn't even see em

They are crazy aren't they? I keep 3 large cultures going at all times, occasionally one will die on you so having a spare is handy. FYI, you can put a small spoonful in a container and keep them in the fridge for months just in case you kill off your cultures someday.

Hi Xellos69 :)

Microworms are an excellent source of food for all kinds of fry. I feed them to my corys and have given them to guppy fry too.

Another good thing about them is that there is always plenty of extra culture to give away to friends. That's another way to keep the culture going. :D

Hey,

Only slightly related, but I'm curious about microworms (and brine shrimp - are they the same?)

I know people grow them to feed to fry, but are they something that adult fish will enjoy as a treat as well? I'd like to have a go at growing them, but not if there's no point.

Does anyone have any other suggestions about live things to feed my fish? Or is it not a good idea, I've heard that disease can be a problem.

Dave
