Hey!

IMG_20241203_124316159.jpg

I'm very concerned! I was meaning to trade my lonely Amano shrimp today into a new home with more amaons. I captured it yesterday evening into a baby fish floating box. It was very active last night and this morning. But when I came back home at eleven it was laying on its side. I was trying to get it to move and it started moving around a little. But for now it hasn't moved again for about 30 minutes.

I'm not sure what to do. Should I release it back to the aquarium and hope it re-activates and hope the fish leave it alone meanwhile? Or just monitor it in this box for some more time? Is this how the shrimp die? I changed the water in the baby box many times after coming home, though it has air holes on top as well as water holes in the bottom.... ok... it's moving.... again. A little. And now not moving again. Could it be a survival strategy to fake death? I'm confused by this shrimp and what to do.

Edited a typing error.
EDIT: Situation solved!

Is there any colour change in the shrimp's internals? My amano shrimp have never been fans of being moved so it could be stress-related. They also prefer hiding spots in dark and shaded areas IME and not too close to the light. If you could give it some more cover to hide under it would appreciate it I think.

Hey!
Thank you for the reply. I turned the lights off for now. There's no change in colour in the internals, it's still transparent.
EDIT: I changed the water again and it's frontal limbs were moving a little. It's still alive.

I released it and it started moving right after falling to the bottom of the aquarium. Perhaps a little confused since it first went where the other fish were crowding, but turned around and went towards the wood/hiding spots. It seems like it was a little confused, or maybe it just tricked me. Or maybe it was both, a survival strategy as well as honest stress. At least it's well now.
I learned I will have to make it a fast capture and fast delivery in the future if I'm to give it away.

You can get more amanos to make her less lonely. Unless there's a reason for that?

Yes, the plan was to get Neocaridinas instead of getting more amanos. My shrimp got delivered to its new home yesterday evening after all, since it was being its normal self and seemed to have recovered well. It should have more company now. I'll ask how its doing later today.

Ah I see!
Glad to hear the amanos in a new home with some buddies doing well :)
I hope you can get some quality neocaradinas that will breed like rabbits happily :D
