which types of algea exactly will they eat? just the green? or will they go for brown and what i think is hair algea?

Mine seem to find fish food more tasty than algae they will run in and rugby tackle the corys then run off with a giant food pellet.

Emma

they should eat most types of algae, though I think mainly the green; their diet also should include other things, e.g. algae wafers, shrimp pellets, etc

lol shrimp eating shrimp pellets, are u serious?but thanks for the help, iv been geting alot of different types of algea so thats what im hoping they will take car of for me.

My amanos have done a wonderful job on cleaning up the long hairs of ?thread algae in my tank. Before getting them, I was in there twice a week winding long threads around a toothbrush to get them out; now I haven't touched it for 2 weeks and the tank looks great. Hey, there were plants under there! :D

The shrimp pellets give them calcium that they need to keep their shells in good shape, as well as extra protein ('cause I don't think if algae has a lot of protein). I regularly drag plants from my fish tanks that have gone algaeic into the shrimp tanks and in 2 weeks, the plants are clean and ready to go back in with the fish. Like taking the car to the car wash (um, except slower).
