I've noticed my amano shrimp have been carrying eggs a lot recently (i have 9 of them in a 30gal tank with an apple snail and some growing guppy and platy fry). I was wondering, in case i try to breed these critters successfully (from getting them to hatch the eggs out successfully to raising the shrimplets etc), how would i go about such a thing  ?

Here's a profile I did on them in the Index - and towards the bottom are some links. One of them to my breeding attempt. And some others to some other great websites to help you.

However unless you have oodles of time on your hands and can get the specialist setup. refractometer, green water, marine gear etc. it's pretty much a no-go I'm afraid :/

Good to know that that you have happy loving shrimp :D

If you do however give it a go - please let us know how it goes :good:

Thankyou for the links, wow, it is interesting to find out the shrimplets need marine/brackish conditions to grow. Since i had no experience whatsoever with marine and brackish tanks though, breeding amano shrimp successfully seems a pretty daunting process for me  . I think my fiance would freak out if i bought anymore tanks right now though so i will leave breeding the shrimp for now, thankyou for all the info though :) .
