Hello all,

Well what I am referring to is cycling, I kind of already had a little nitrate and ammonia spike. And now my water is chrystal clear my fish arequite vibrant colors and the tank smells a whole ton better!! And I'm gonna go to my LFS to get my tank water tested on Saturday, what are the appropriate levels so that I can get another Dwarf Gourami and possibly another zebra danio or two? and If I can or should. Thanks alot you guys!!! :D

Your ammonia and nitrite should read 0 before you add anything else. There will always be small levels of nitrate in any tank. I'm not sure of the exact acceptable number. A good way to keep all levels in check is to do small frequent water changes. 15% every week is good. If you have any detectable level of ammonia or nitrite I'd hold off on getting more fish.

Yup totally agree with Moe, the ammonia and the nitrItes should be at 0, if you've been cycling the fishless way you'll probably need to do a large water change before you get any fish as the nitrAte levels will be quite high.

Also its worth getting your own test kits for ammonia and nitrites that way you can do regular tests to ensure nothing has gone wrong in your tank and also an immediate indicator if you think your fish are struggling.
