Alvarezi swordtails...

To continue other less common swordtails overhere...
One of my favorite wilds are the Alvarezi swordtails. It´s also a green swordtail. Depending on the dominance of the male the coloration can change into deep green or even some red markings on the lower part of the body. The way they color has to do with the location they´re from. These swordtails belong to the somewhat larger sized swordtails. In general they´re sturdy to look at. It´s a beautiful wild swordtail species. It´s also a swordtail species that likes to shoal. For not all wild swordtail species do shoal.

Awesome! My one, the blue one, looks like those. I don't know what kind of swordtail he is. He got some red-ish dots on his dorsal fin.

Never thought they were less common. I have a male and female breeding pair of these guys. If not very similar

There are many similar species of xiphophorus do you you have correct name and location of fish without location details you can only assume that you have an ordinary aquarium strain of Xiphophorus helleri

Not sure if this implied to me but I will post a pic and show you guys. I’m working tonight but will do it in the morning.

There are several wild swordtail strains that do look somewhat similar. Those could be X.helleri from another location or a different Xiphophorus species. Even within the Xiphophorus helleri there are subgroups. But not all green wild swordtails are X.helleri.

Yours is the regular Xiphophorus helleri. But still nice though...
