Ok I'm trying to think of a way to save space but still have lots of tanks :) I was thinking of getting some of those double metal stands, I have a 4ft one with two tanks in storage but really I need 3ft to save a little space. Luckily all the fish I have don't require much space(footprint wise) once split up.

Anyway I had the idea of using heavy duty shelving and found this:

Do you think this would be able to hold 3 x 3ft tanks safely, it does say it holds up to 900kgs but just thought I'd check and make sure it was a good idea before measureing up etc :p

we have those same type of shelves at the wherehouse i work at, and they hold loads of weight. they can hold even more if you put 2x4's to distribute the weight better. you just have to cut the ends of the 2x4's to wedge them in.

Great :good: seems like such a bargain when you consider buying a double metal stand from an online retailer is virtually the same price, except with this one you can have 3 tanks (or more if your willing to get on a ladder to reach the top).

With the 2x4's, and the weight evenly distributed you should have no problem. If you go with the higher tanks make sure when you are doing maintenance that you don't have full tanks on top, with empties on the bottom, or it will want to topple. This can be eliminated by anchoring it to the wall with a couple of screws.

They sell something similar in the US called Gorilla Racks, they are a fishroom staple for many breeders, as the shelfs are adjustable making them easy to reconfigure.

I'll make sure I anchor them then, thanks :good:

It's not fair they have everything in the US! Maybe I should move over there instead of down the road lol.

That is the samea thing I had my first tank on. Cheap, sturdy, easy to assemble, an excellent choice. That might even be the same website I got mine from. Like has been previously said, be sure to anchor it to a wall as it does wobble a little

you could also try lookin for a warehouse that is shutting down & see about buying a set from them. that tends to be cheaper plus you can see how stable they are. we have them in a warehouse I work in & these will holds about a ton or so.
