I checked the amonia and nitrite levels tonight after a small water change and six or seven anxious weeks of cycling and the nitrite levels are at 0 and the amonia levels are down to 2. I have three danios that have weathered the process (started the tank before I even knew about the full cycling process or I'd have gone fishless) and a hardy pleco.
I think I have my final fish tally for when the tank is ready to go. I know not to add them all at once, so I figured two or three at a time and no more, plus I should keep checking levels to make sure all is well. Right?
Anyway, decided to just have three danios for now and to add two dwarf flame gouramis, two dwarf neon blue gouramis, three or four cories and four or so diamond tetras which I had never seen before tonight but which are quite flashy and pretty and appear somewhat peaceful. This is for a 29 gallon tank, by the way...
Mr. Pleco is quite tiny right now but from what I understand is going to be expanding rapidly, so he's slated for a future 55 gallon as he gets larger. I figured once he's gone to his new home I can add a few more small fish.
How does this sound?
