I decided to remove the huge piece of bog wood from the aquarium the other night as I was hardly ever seeing my plecostomus.
On doing this I thought,why not just rescape the tank,which I did.
I cleaned everything top to bottom.
The following morning my partner phoned me at work to say the fish were acting strange at the top of the tank.
They were struggling for oxygen,most of the inhabitants were.I told her to get the bubbler and flow pump running immediately.
Luckily they revived,but if it weren’t for her having the day off I would have come home to a disaster,all the fish would have been dead.
When I got home I took a look and discovered the flow from the filter had almost stopped.In my excitement in reshaping the tank I had forgot to clean one very important part f the system,the pre filter on the oase 600.
Let this be a reminder to everyone,something so simple could have resulted in a terrible loss,and possibly my exit from the world of fish keeping.
