Ok looked at all the information and spotted some things that don't look good.

Male tank
1. I am asumming that all those male guppies and the cory and the catfish are living in a 10gal tank? Way too small for that many fish!

2. Has the tank been cycled? Radings for Nitrite and Ammonia (which isn't there) should be 0.

Female tank

Same as male tank..too many fish and readings for nitrite and ammonia should be 0

Thank you =)

ok...I know there are way to many fish in my Male tank I bought a little to much...(All the pretty colors
 lol) I plan on getting a nother 10 gallon tank or bigger one soon...but for now I wanted to get everything else under control...

I don't think there is to many in my Female tank?...I read that its one guppie to one gallon (or am I wrong)...There are 5 females + 2 Small Catfish (which I know the pleco is going to get big...and when he does i will get him a bigger tank but till then he should be fine right?) so thats 7 fish so if its 1 fish per gallon theres 3 extra gallions of room right? (i'm not getting anymore fish anyway)...

about the Nitrite and Ammonia...yes the tanks are being cycled (well now anyway)...but I had to remove the carbon filter for 2 days because of the Parasite Clear Tank Buddies Medication said so...

The best advice I can give you is to take those fish back to the shop and wait until the tank is cycled :/ The stocking levels should be 1" of fish per gallon not one fish per gallon. If you continue to try to cycle this tank with more bio load than it can ever keep up with then the fish will suffer and they may die. Sorry but you did ask.

O..ok I didn't know sorry...I'll just either take them back or get another tank...one question aren't guppies 1" sorta though?

From a thing i was reading "The general rule is 1" of fish per gallon of water so I'd say 5 guppies
would do nicely in your 5gal tank. You can even stretch it since you have a
filter and add a corey cat. "

Edit- its from HERE

also if fish are sitting on te bottom breathing heavily, they are probly going to die so u should quarrentine them

A full grown guppy can reach 2.5 inches..read this

http://www.thetropicaltank.co.uk/Fishindx/guppy.htm

When you look at what fish to put in a tank take into concideration how big they will grow. 2.5"*5=15" of potential fish. Adding the Cory add another 2-3 inches on top of that and then the pleco which if its a common can be anything up to around 18"..see where its going here?

Thats what I was going to do...but after typing all that I went back and they were normal agian...just the blue one and the yellow/red one...it might have been because I had just put the cabon filter back in the tank?

O...ok...never mind then...thank you =)...so I'll return a few and get a bigger tank...thanx

Besides the stocking problems and water quality issues that you seem to be having, the male tank definately has a bacterial infection going on in it. The red streaking is a sign of septcemia, a bactererial infection.

Another big problme i noticed was you have salt in the tanks. Any scaleless fish cannot be near salt, so that is adding to their stress.

In the female tank, i would guess for at the moment, the shreded fins is from the water quality, and is not a bacterial infection YET.

The last thing I was wondering is what is your ammonia readings? One reason i hate the test kit you have is because it has no ammonia reading. Also, if possible, get a liquid based test kit, they are much more reliable and accurate. Here is a good master test kit on sale at big als online, which is a good source for cheap products. http://bigalsonline.com/catalog/product.xm...id1=3233;pcid2=

So recap:
1. Test for ammonia and post levels.
2. Do water changes to bring down the nitrite levels.
3. Treat the male tank for a bacterial infection
4. remove the salt from the tanks as it is bad for scaleless fish.

(and reduce your stocking which others have talked about)

I posted on your other thread too, and I've read this again, and have to agree, you have too many fish in those tiny tanks.

Never mind 10 gallons for your plecs, you'll need at least 4ft or more of tanks for each of them, as they can and will grow up to 2ft or even more in extreme cases. Average being 18"+.

They're poo machines too - so the reason your readings are off might be because you have the plecs in there - even at baby sizes they're going to raise your readings unless you have a bigger tank and decent filtration. So unless you can get a couple of much bigger tanks, you're better off either taking the plecs back, or rehoming them to someone who has tank space for them.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news :(

Actually this is plain wrong. Whether a fish has scales or not has nothing to do with its salt tolerance. A number of catfish without scales live in brackish and marine waters (just check on Plotosus lineatus). this article: http://www.scotcat.com/articles/article84.htm by one of our brackish specialist members (Nmonks) details the myth about scales affecting salt tolerance.

The problem with salt in most catfish (and other fish such as South American Tetras) is that they come from waters with no salt content at all and the presence of salt can play havoc with their osmoregulatory system, leading to problems with the kidneys and an early death (either from the kidney problems or from other, secondary, affects).

Salt is fine for all catfish as a short term thing to try and treat a specific illness or condition (such as Ich) but should never be used as a "tonic".

Hi,

the genaral guide is an inch of adult size fish per gallon, the plecs need to go as they get 18-24 inches the corys should be in groups of 3+ and will grow 3 inches. The male guppies would be ok together if they were in a bigger tank but there just not enough space to keep so many males together.

Emma :)
