Alkalinity

Our water here in Seattle is very soft (~50 GH) and the pH is almost perfect for our freshwater tanks (~6.8-7.0). My only concern is that the KH level always reads quite low when I check my water parameters.--Somewhere down around 40 KH. Is this okay? Or should I be doing something to get this water's buffering capacity higher? I am really unenthused about adding any pH altering substances.

Any suggestions?? Thanks.
