hey,

will any marine tank develop algae no matter how good ur water is ?

mine is

nitrate 25 and phosphate is 0.1 treated water today will see how it looks in 2 days.. all other readings are fine...

seems like there is brownish algae that slightly appeared on the gravel, added my fisrt fish today as well..thanks

Unforunately most people at one time or another will get algae if you are just setting up it would be best to use rowaphos to kill off any phosphate and prevent algae in the future
is the nitrate reading of 25 right or is that 0.25?
what are all the other water parameters like nitrite amonia KH PH sg?

that is very algae producing water, since the nitrate and phosphates are pretty high.... Water change....

just wating for the water to mix and im doing a change,

other readings i have

nitrite 0
ammonia 0
ph 8.5

have you got any CUC in the tank yet?? How long has the system been set up? It sounds to me like the you have got diatoms (the brown algae on your sand bed), this is usual with all newly set-up and can eve occur on mature ones! Your best bet would be to add some snails (turbos etc) and some hermits and along with a 20/25% water change this should do the trick in helping you tackle both your high nitrates and phosphates and algae! I seemed to have the same problems untill I added some CUC and they have almost got rid of every bit of algae in the tank! :good:
