Hello,

I'm a member of a committee that is in charge of a very large fishtank at the Veterinary school. We've got conflicting information from previous committees (second year students are traditionally in charge) about what to use or not to use to remove algae from the glass of the aquarium.

One group used razor blades, and claims that the plastic bristled brush currently in use will scratch the glass. Last years committee chair claims that the scratches were already there, and that razor blades will scratch the glass. The bristles, while course, couldn't possibly scratch glass...

We've examined the glass, and by looking at the direction of the scratches, we believe that steel wool or some other harsh abrasive may have been used prior to any of us taking control of the tanks care, and maybe neither the razorblades or the brush have added scratches...

So before we do any more damage... what will, and what won't scratch glass????

Thanks!

Hi. I use an algae remover aquarium cleaning pad by Jungle. It only cost a couple of bucks. Might not be the best for a huge tank though as you have to get your arm wet to use it! Got mine at WalMart by the way.
