Hi, could someone please give me some advise regarding algae, I would post in the other algae thread but it turned into a bit of an argument
Anyway, I have a fair bit of algea in my tank, the green spotty type on the glass and some of the stringy crap on my wood and stones and would like to know what to do about it
To be totally honest, I do have my lights on far too much, depending on what time I start work, usually turning them on at 8ish but sometimes as early as 7am, then they get left on till 8pm ish, which is probably the source of my problem but would like to try and clear it up a bit.
I have a 24"x24"x24" 155L tank with the following inhabitants...
1RTBS
1 BN plec
1 firemouth cichlid
2 panda cory
6 serpae tetra
4 zebra danios
I'd like to know what the best course of action would be, if i got a timer to do the lights automatically would the surplus algae just die off or would it need to be cleaned etc? and in the long run I would like to get another plec of some description so presumably that would help
On a slightly related note, my tank PH is about 6.2ish, raising to 7 with a water change, however it soon goes down. Initially I attributed this to the amount of bogwood in the water which lowers PH and softens water as I understand, will this pass in time as the wood stops leaking? (assuming it ever does )
thanks
