Hi! I had no luck in the general section I was wondering whether any of your good selves maybe able to help, I think that this is some kinda algae that came in on some plants I got, It kinda starts off as little white spores then goes in to these pretty red blooms I actually like them but don't know whether they will become a problem, Anyone??

This is in a Freshwater aquarium? Cant remember ever seeing anything similar in freshwater but it does look pretty cool... Never seen a FW algae that I actually wouldn't mind getting before :p

I think it is a fungus not an algae but not 100% sure.

Hi!
Yer, its fresh water, it was weird, the little white blobs just appeared really quickly over night all over the tank about a week after putting some fern type plants in I wiped them off the glass but thought they might be eggs of some kind so left them on the slate and they turned over the next few weeks. the fish seem fine they don't graze on them though.

i would take the rock out and scrub all that off if i was you.
it might be harmfull/ poisen to the fish.

Cheers, But I would like to Identify it if possible, I have an empty tank I can stick it in to see what happens, I'm just conditioning the water at the moment, as I say the fish seem fine so far, any signs of change and I will pull it out of there.

I think it looks cool,
I would agree with afishdude take it out but DONT scrub it put it in some bucket or something and see what develops :D

I'm jealous wish I have that

you BEST keep frequent updates on this :D

EDIT:
Okay i have been looking like a mad man,
and only reference I can get to red algae is
Red slime algae.

here is a picture

Sadly I cant find much info I hope what I did find is of some help.

No problem will keep you updated, especially if it turns out to be the cure for something cool like left-handedness or Man flu! Ah! if only!

... I know but it would be nice if we didn't struggle so much with potato peelers and, tin openers and right handed fish tanks!

I just find having to buy left handed guitars specially annoying :)
I have conquered the can opener,
I just smudge my hand when writing :p

What kind of texture does it have. is it like a solid mass 9like amushroom head) or is it fluffy (like a little ball of fur?)

Its kinda velvety but hard. Hang on two secs and Ill macro it.

(I learned right handed and now wish I had had taken the time to look!)

Cool! they are pretty!

I think there is a red variation of brush algae which this could be. It it difficult to remove?

It looks really cool and if you can find out what it is and as long as it isn't harmful i would say keep it in there :)

Hi! Sorry to bump this but someone must have an idea what this is? Could anyone even just give me a clue whether it is a algae, moss or Fungus?
