So, yesterday i went to browse at petco. And one of the employees was cleaning a tank with this white thing FROM THE OUTSIDE. So, i asked what that was. He said it was an algae magnet and let me try it. And, for the first time, I had like fun cleaning a tank  . Plus, the algae came right of. What it is, is two powerful magnets, one on inside of the tank and one on the outside. So, you dont get all wet when cleaning tanks. i want one sooo bad!

If you want one, they probably sell them right there in the store where you saw one being used. I have 3 different ones because each has a stronger or weaker magnet. The one that I use on the tank with 1/2 inch thick glass would probably damage the glass on a small tank with thinner glass.

yes i saw them being sold there. migght pick one up next week after i get my platies.

I am a 'hands in the tank with an algae pad at water changing time' sort of guy. However I do a quick, daily swipe with a large and powerful algae magnet due to the tank being in direct sunlight just to keep it pristine :good:

10/10 piece of kit if used correctly

lol if you let your tank get REALLY messy, you could write things

I've been using this to get rid of my algae and it works really well

I have the large Topfin brand one from Petsmart for my 55 gallon. I could KICK myself for not going for the Mag Float brand.

The wet side will float if you lose magnetic grip on it, whereas my "El Cheapo" sinks straight into the substrate - where picking it up with the magnet is a BIT dangerous. Sandwiching a rock between the scrubber and the glass with that much magnetic force could cause some SERIOUS damage! Not to mention when playing with the Mag Float, it cleaned a TON better. Will probably take it back and exchange, it pays to have friends there :)

A nice addition for the back of the tank is the sponge on a stick.

My aquarium is pushed against a wall so cleaning with the "El Cheapo" isnt an option for the back.

All things said, this is the best thing since Action Air decorations :)
