Hi all,

I have had my tank set up for a couple of months now I think, it was a transfer from an old tank to a bigger tank. I initially had a mini-cycle which sorted itself out within a few days (and sadly lost a few fish).

My latest problem is algae that I have noticed - I am getting a browny coloured algae, and some very thin dark green hairs growing on my tank surfaces. The brown algae are also growing on my plants and on my filter. What is the best way to treat this? I have been scrubbing some of the brown stuff off plant leaves with a tooth brush (saw that recommended somewhere else on here).

Its a 64 Litre tank, I have reduced my lighting to 4 hours. All tank parameters are good (no ammonia, no nitrite, about 20 on the nitrate).

Any advice appreciated :) Sorry I can't get better pictures, the camera made it look better than it is!

ooops looks like I accidentally signed in with my profile from two years ago, ruthc1985 is actually me lol

oh that stuff is easy to take care of.. just give it a good scrub then vacuum the gravel.. giving a water change all at the same time and BOOM all gone.. that algae comes if there is too much sun light.

Brilliant thanks! Would you suggest I cut down the lighting even more then?
