This has been growing in my 55g tank for a long time. It's not taking over and doesn't seem to be harming anything, plus I think it's kind of cool looking and adds to the natural look of my tank, so I haven't done anything about it. It seems to be concentrated just in about one square foot of my tank, right by my HOB filter inlet and my powerhead. But can you tell me what it is?

My Dad used to have similar thing in his tank growing off the rocks. It never did any harm so he just left it too. I'm guessing it's some kind of algae

It's algea.

Some fish will snack on it. This will do no harm to your tank.

Well, how odd! I didn't get any notice that anyone had replied! Thank you both. I'm not going to worry about the stuff, as it's kind of attractive and I think even adds to the tank's appearance. Just wanted to make sure it wasn't going to kill anyone, though.
