well, :grr: :grr: :grr:

I have 2 blue channel catfish. 1 is 3 inches and 1 is 2 inches and they have both earned their way back to the lfs. they are supposed to be algae eaters. yeah right!!!! :grr: I went to bed I count 4 neons 6 cherry barbs. wake up 2 neons and 3 cherry barbs. no floaters and nothing stuck to the the Emporer 400 intake. the one I had named Fu Man chu however had a cherry barb tail sticking out of his mouth. I will take them both back today. I don't even want money for them. they can have them back. no cannibals in my tank. bad fish :grr:

Who on earth told you that channel cats were algea eaters? They are full time predators that can reach 4 foot in length and are also a cold water fish, whoever told you they could go in a community tank needs a damm good bea.... oh i mean talking to

I am so sorry about your loss, It just makes me sick when a store or dealer doesnt take pride in their place to tell good money paying customers what fish they are getting, IMHO that is one of the gravest crimes in the hobby. There are alot of people out there that go in and see a stunning looking fish and take it home only to find out that its a preditor. All this for the 2 or 3 dollar sale. Dont get me wrong here, if it wasnt for LFS's the hobby wouldnt go very far, but man they need to find a proctologist to surgically remove thier craniums from ther rectums.
May I suggest when it comes time to replace fish you check into some beautiful swords.....very pretty fish

Sorry again about your loss

Sorry to hear about your problem. Makes me really thankful that I have a lfs that actually cares about his work. He's a gem in this mad world

I found a new lsf today. An old friend of mine I have not seen in a while works ther too. I didn'y know he knew about fish, but boy was I wrong. He has great knowledge of what fish go well together. unfortunatly the store he works at does not have very healthy looking fish, but I can go to him and then goto my lsf that has very healthy fish and buy them there. the store with bad fish has the best selection of suplies in the area though. I will get my new tank from them and a 33% employee discount. shhhhh!!!

This seems to happen way to often :grr: :( :/

The best thing anyone can do is to do your own research and be well informed and then ask the lfs.

Take 'em back and demand a refund (if not compensation1)

:)

wet,

they were out of the tank within 2 minutes of me realizing what happened. they were very cheap, only $.99 each. I put the $2.12 (after tax) towards some brine shrimp in jelly as a treat for the survivors.

B) - not a pop at you m8 but you here this story too often :(

:)

I made many mistakes my first few weeks and paid a price for it. I was unaware that there was so much involved with a tank. I learned my lesson though and will definately do my research in the future.

It was hard to take him back to the store. he almost ended up as dinner :hyper: grrr I was mad, but my own fault for not doing research.

One of the lfs recomended a crayfish for my friends community tank...within 5 secs of being dropped into the tank it was munching on one of his swordtails...he brought it back and made such a stink that he got 6 new fish and a $20.00 credit at the store...not bad for a $1.99 crayfish...If you complain in person (rather loudly for best effect) they will give you quite a bit to shut you up
