I have a very healthy (relatively new) tank with the fish that are in my signature in it. They always love feeding time, but for some reason my platy, mollies, tetras, and guppies all LOVE these algae disks that I put in for my algae eater!

Seriously, they won't let the catfish or the algae-eater have any! As soon as a put it in, they are nibbling and scrambling around trying to bite/suck off bits of this thing. It's crazy!

The other day my silver molly got really posessive of this one chunk I put in. Normally she's very reserved and calm but she was attacking anything that came near it!! It was pretty funny to watch, actually. She started shaking though, which was weird... it looked like she was really mad! That or she ate too much algae.

I promise, I really am feeding them enough! Sometimes they'll even ignore the flakes and just go for the algae disk... weird...

lol my loaches are always at the algae wafers first, you can hear them snaping bits off

feed them flake and then when the lights are off put the algee disks in and that might solver ur problem

thats a good idea i have to do the same of my female fights get to em before my catfish an plec's do

have to leave it for about 5 mins tho cause they still get em

Funny you should mention this, I have fed my pleco an algea disk for the first time today. Was the funniest thing I've seen my tank inhabitants do.
The guppies discovered it first, then the pleco. At one point all the guppies (about 10 of them) and the pleco were feeding on it at the same time. Then, to my surprise the fry came out and were feeding with the adult fish on this little algea disk. I'm not talking about large fry, I'm talking about week old swordtail fry. The big fish completely ignored the little fellahs!
I checked on my tank about 1/2 hr ago, and the pleco is on top of that disk and wont let go... that would mean he'll have been guarding his disk for almost 3 hrs now!
Heck, my fish aren't the only ones who love these algea disks... I do too! Just for the entertainment value!

All my fish love these algae tabs, which I don't appreciate because they are expensive. I don't think my cory's get any. Although I read on pack to feed at night or late afternoon, because algae eating fish prefer to eat later in day. An employee at lfs told me I could cut up really fine lettuce. But cory's are mainly bottem eaters, aren't they? I haven't tried it yet but I would seem to think that lettuce is going to float. I have also heard of blanched zuchini. Has anyone ever tried this?

you guys/girl had made me go tomarow and get some of thows and try it out wish me luck

My female convict gets very possessive of them. She'll pick them up as soon as the hit the gravel and take them back to her nest and "store" them. Then she'll take bites out of them as she wishes. She new has 3 algae disks in her pit right now so i'm gonna stop til she eats them all.

None of the other fish get any because....well...you know how cons are :hey:

All my fish enjoy their algae tabs, too. I feed them Wardley's Spirulina disks which is a blue green algae.

Do watch your convict, Mustang5L5. The disks have a life expectancy of about 12 hours. After that time, they will deteriorate and pollute the water. If she still has them after that period of time, it would be best if you removed them. :D

All My fish go nuts for the Disks.

I feed them a mix of flakes and micro pellets @ approx 7.00pm, then about ten mins later will drop a few discs in for the loaches and the kuhlis.

All my fish like the algea wafers bottom feeders and top feeders alike. I have a gold ram that picked up a piece and was swimming around with it in his mouth ,took us a while to realise that it wasnt stuck. In fact he would spit it out and catch it again , and woe betide anyone else that came near.He just carried it around until he had finished it ... :) pebbles
