algae bloom

Hi all,

I hope I can get some help here on this one...I have what they call algae bloom...I had my water tested at the pet store and my water is perfectly fine...My question is how do I get rid of this? I have tried using the stuff for clear water, works good for a day or so and then clouds up again...Anyone has any suggestions???

how much and how often do u feed ur fish?
how long each day is the light on in the tank?
how often do u do water changes?

I was feeding them twice per day...but have cut back to once per day
I use to have the light on for approx..12 hrs...but have that cut back to about 6 hours
I've been doing partial water changes about twice per week since this has started..

after reading about u cutting back i dunno waht to suggest...

what fish do u have in there?

sorry, cant think of anything else apart from, is the tank near a window, or the tank hasnt completed a full cycle.

Ive only cut back this past couple of days...my tank is on the side to a window...it doesn't get much sun light at all...could the rocks in the bottom be causing it...they were not bought at a pet store but from walmart...

Where does the bloom originate from? Rocks, water, or start on glass?

it seems to be just in the water...don't see any on my rocks or glass...there is a little bit of black on my plants though(plastic)...i'm at a loss...hope you can help..thanks
