Today I officially declared war on the various algaes frequenting my aquarium. I'd been performing guerilla assaults with a sponge (yes I'm not allowed to play with sharp objects) almost daily. The postman knocked at the door at 0915 hours and I greeted him with my hair looking like I'd shoved my finger in a power socket. He handed me two consignments. One contained 55 astrea snails (big buggers too). The other consisted of 10 algae and 10 blue legged hermits.
After allowing the temperatures to match and the waters to mix, I began placing the snails in the aquarium the right way up. Instantly they began munching away on the gunk on my rocks and glass. I was clapping my hands with glee. Die Algae..... DIEEEEEEEE!!
Then in went the hermits. As soon as they hit the sand, they immediately spotted all the old snail shells that I'd purposely left in the tank for hermit accomodation. Then ensued about 20 minutes of hermit crabs pushing, pulling and swing their handbags as they beat the granny out of one another, squabbling over their new fashion attire. It was worse than a bunch of women at a Debenhams Blue Cross Sale
I'm glad to say that the algae has taken a severe @$$ whooping in the last 10 hours.
