Algae And Sand

I was talking to the women in the pet shop who said the action of picking up the gravel in the vac, and them rubbing against each other cleans the gravel so the algae doesn't build up on it.

Obviously you can't do this with sand, so do you get problems wih algae?

ive never had any problems

mine has been in for 2 years and no algea

nor me, but I am heavily planted which fights the algae anyway.

Also have MTS, shrimps, Otos and pitbull plecs which do their jobs very well.

Only a problem if you have nothing that digs on the sand or if you keep the lights on too long.
