OK, I have some bristlenoses and I'm not sure if they are Albino or Golden. Not that it really matters I suppose, but I'm curious. Interestingly enough, I googled "Albino Bristlenose" image and up popped pages of pics (they looked pretty golden to me :S ) and then I googled "golden bristlenose" and up popped 4 images - none of them even of a bristlenose. How does one explain that ? :dunno:

Well, these are the ones I bought from a reputable shop as Albino's :

Cool thanks, but why did everyone say that the BN in this thread were golden, when they clearly have bright red / pink eyes ? :dunno:
Mine have pink / red eyes too.

as Paul said - Goldens have dark eyes (actually really striking blue in the ones I've seen)
Albinos have pink.

Thanks - but can someone then confirm for me if the comments in the other thread were correct ?
And under the above information mine are albino ?

Yes your BN's are albino even if they are pretty golden looking- its the same with albino corys, when young they are quite white but as they mature they turn more golden.

lol - thanks ! but what also I want to know is: are were the other people correct in saying the other BN's are Golden - when they indeed look the same as mine with the red / pink eye ? (see link in my 2nd post to other thread).

I agree with you bloozoo2, the fish in the other link is exactly the same, I have an albino bristle nose aswell.....the fish in the other link clearly has red eyes, unless its something to do with the flash but I cant see that being the case.

it is possible that the "golden" bristlenose is part albino;
that is to say it just lacks the pigment from the eyes and the body is normal.
this is a very rare condition known as partial albunisum. :dunno:

Heres a pic of what i have been breeding, we in NZ call these a Golden Blackeyed Ancistrus (B/Nose)
The only difference between this and an albino in our lil bit of the world is the eye colouring.
