I have an albino plec in amongst my community tank. Has anyone had an experience of these plecs? I am having trouble locating any relevant information on him (tried planetcatfish.com) or pictures to ensure he is an albino.

I dont have access to digital pictures at present.

He is about 3 inches long, quite thin but proportioned..... a creamy golden colour. Suckermouth, active during the daytime (sleeps in an ornament at night), swims around the tank quite often, stands up on his fins to stare at me from top of another ornament. He is a real character and not at all ugly!

He does, however have to fight the mollies for his algae wafers but holds his own (and loves cucumber).

Usually albino plecs are pink bodied with dark pink or light purple fins. I am no expert, but that is what I have always seen them like in pictures.

LOL, they are quite cute but mine is getting a bit aggressive with the mollies, who keep nicking his food!!!!! Serves them right I say. :p

Sounds like a Golden Chinese Algea eater if you ask me.

Standard pleco shape? Sounds to me like a chocolate pleco. It's a color variant on the commons, and will get very large, up to 18 inches, and heavy bodied. Mine eats algae tabs and chunks of meaty foods, in addition to rasping on driftwood. Cool fish, but he gets big!

That says to me not a plec...slim? plecs are rather wide really..and prefer to come out at night. and Plecs dont stand up on there fins.

and sam, i have heard of albino plecs...but it dont sound anything like a plec to me...dont laugh at my suggestsions. I dont see you helping out..apart from your very constructive reply of.."i dont know what they r, i just wanted to post so i wouldnt be a noob ne more "

Unfortunatly, I gotta agree with DevilsAdvocate here, it really does sound a lot more like a chinese algea eater than a plec. And chinese algea eaters just Love standing on their fins =D Nothing as cute as seeing them stand on it and just look at you.

Also, they can get very territorial once they get bigger mostly towards them of the same species though.

I think this will stay pretty much a mystery untill you can get a digi camera from someone and manage to take a picture of it =)
