I'm getting the urge to buy an albino tiger oscar or an albino red oscar when i've got a big enough tank and was just wondering if they are a good fish to keep? Like are they entertaining to be around? Do they have there own personality? Do they form a bond with the owners?

A lot of people seem to love them.. when I had one I found it quite boring.. Maybe I got a dumb one I don't know.. but it would jump at the lid all the time and splash everywhere.. I wont buy one again.
Thats what I thought they might be like my mate had a tiger oscar and all it did was sit in one spot all day and barely move around thew tank. It would only move when it was getting food then go and sit back in the opne spot.

i disagree 
my two are great to watch exsploring the tank....take food from your fingers,you can stroke them....also they are medeators,if my firemouth goes for my severum they head striaght in to break it up bosses.....when you enter the room boom there they are following you where ever you go....but you will need a huge tank and good filteration

oscars are great no 2 are alike some will sulk while some will follow you up and down, they have great personalitys///
however they are large territorial fish, who need alot of space, and when they become mature can turn on there tank mates, we`ve just had to rehome some of the inhabitants out of our oscar tank because they were fighting

there great i've owned a few over the years, and always gone back to them at one stage, if you can buy some Peacock bass there even better i've got one myself and it's great !
I've had quitre a few Oscars over the years. IMO, they have more personality than any other fish I've ever kept. Oscars are far from my favorite fish so I'm not just being biased.
They do tend to sulk and pout at times when they don't get their way but I find that as a personality trait, not a hinderance. Like most large cichlids, they will get to know people and can tell the difference especially from those that feed them and clean their tanks. You can teach them tricks also. I had a couple that I taught to do somersaults in the water.
Sometimes when they splash at the top they are trying to play with you. If you don't play with them they will go into a corner and pout for a spell. I would encourage everyone to have one at least once.

They are very much a fish for certain types of people..
Some people like that sort of thing.. whereas I think it's annoying.

lol The sort of thing where a fish wants to interact with you? Yea, I like that but I didn't think I was in the minority.

When the fish is jumping at the lid non stop.. and splashing a lot.. everytime i open the lid it tried to jump out.. would splash water all over the floor..

There's no difference between the albino or other strains, it all boils down to the particular fish. It doesn't hurt when they bite. They don't have the pseudocanine teeth like guapotes and flowerhorns have.

Oscars are like the dogs of the fish world, they do make bonds with their owners and are entertaining in that they can even be clicker trained, etc. One thing to bear in mind though is that most albino animals have sight problems of varying degrees - in most cases not even noticable, but our old albino oscar could hardly see a thing and was easily frightened by other fish (SDs etc). So much so he didn't eat. If I were to have another albino oscar, it would be an only fish, or with bottom feeders only.

Tiger oscars are supposed to be more aggressive than other colour variations. Albinos are supposed to be calmer, but as Kathy said, they have sight issues so thats why. But as someone else said, all cichlids are individuals, you may get a really shy tiger oscar and a really vicious albino - it's just the luck of the draw
