Woke this morning to find one of my corys has both of its eyes missing & another has 1 missing. Gutted for them but don't know what to do. They're 2 of 6 that are in a 200 litre community tank which consists of a Molly, 4 zebra loach, dwarf gourami, 8 dwarf neon rainbows & a keyhole cichlid.

I've yet to witness any aggression other than the gourami & keyhole give chase to each other at feeding times.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Ps, my water levels are 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite & 10 nitrate. I perform 30% weekly water changes & have a tetratec ex1200 filter running. 7.6 ph

My guess is that a Zebra Loach has attacked the poor corry

That was my initial thought. The zebras are really crazy at feeding times. The cories don't get a look in a lot of the time. Might take the remaining ones out & re-home them. Pity as I really enjoy watching them.

And to add if it were me I would more than likley euthanize the corry that has no eyes left, hopefully the corry with one eye will adapt.

I'd euthanize them both. If the eye was removed by a fish the chances of infection are huge.

Personally i would catch them and superglue some of these on:

I had to do it a while ago to some of my fish

Problem sorted,

I'm not too sure if I should feel a little insulted or laugh at the fake eyes.

This actually made me do a wee!

A corydora's primary sense is touch and it uses it barbels to sift and find food on and in the substrate. I'd at least watch them at feeding time to see if they can adequately fend for themselves before killing them.

although Pete's suggestion is obviously the most practical.

I wouldn,t be too quick to euthanise, I have several one eyed cory that I rescued from an Lfs after tiger barbs had attacked them.
they behave no differently from the others & breed too

i bet they swim around in circles a lot, mine did that too, even with fake eyes, i had to glue a lollypop stick to either side of the fish to keep it straight, like a splint.

but we should take this seriously too, poor Cory's.  I came looking for a Cory expert ... see my other topic as to why, ...but found this post and felt I would like to comment.

I agree with ZoddyZod, although who is Pete - is it Tizer?

Rolo do the wounds look clean or infected?  In my LFS I discovered a Bristlenose had been attacked and lost both his eyes and dorsal fin, he is now a store pet and does just fine as far as I am aware.  What would you like to do as an outcome?
