Hi Everyone :yahoo:

We were given an albino cory a few weeks ago and today got him a buddy so he isnt lonely. Im just wondering what the eating habits are, what they eat and how do we tell the diff between sexes and any other info I should know. Currently they eat lil pellets and worms when they fall down to the bottom. We havent had corys before so want them to be happy in their habitat. They currently have a tank to themselves which the love. They swim up and down and around quite often. There is plants in it and also sand on the bottom. They are also egg layers im assuming? Im also wondering about water quality.

The one we got today has a bit of a belly on it. Not the above photo.

The one with the belly is very likely a female. She will be larger than the male and broader at the middrift when viewed from above.

You don't say what pellets or what worms. But a sinking pellet and some type of worm will most likey please them very much. With just two, they may not consume very much so be careful of over feeding. They require a clean substrate as they are bottom fish that comb and dig for tidbits, so they also like sand. They like good water and appreciate small cool water changes frequently. They are mostly a river fish and like water movement which they will delight in. They will also want something that they can hide in or behind and will peek around at you when you visit. They are egg layers and these probably are egg scatterers. It is very likely that they will eventually present you with a bounteous spawn. Be prepared. :)

Thanks for that :)

They love the sand. Dig through it all day just foriging. I only feed them less than a pinch as they hardly eat but tend to get it off the ground. I was wondering about frequent water changes/more than usual. They have a tunnel/hollow log they sleep under and there is some plants to they swim around in. The photo above is not the new one/fat one. I am finding that they only like the light on for around 5hrs and then swim around more when the light from the tank next door shines into their tank.

That's wonderful that you are enjoying them, electric yellow. They are dear little creatures. I think it must be a positive recommendation when people like Corys, and the Corys are happy too. :good:
