I currently have 2 albino corys, brilliant little things to watch.

I don't know the sex of one of them but the other is most definatly female, as yesterday she started spreading eggs all over the tank. I never saw the male fertilise them however, I have just heard that normally they adopt the T-position before the female spreads the eggs. I never witnessed this so didn't know if the eggs had been fertilised.

I have also just read somewhere that "cory couples can be triggered into spawning", does this mean that they won't lay eggs unless they are male and female, and willing to spawn with each other. Or can the female lay eggs without a male, in the same way chickens will?

Unfortunatly before I had a chance to collect the eggs to keep the same my other fish ate them all. Is it likely they will lay eggs again, and roughly how long does it take before she will be ready again?

Sorry for all the questions, this is my first breeding of an egg laying species, livebearers are abit easier to handle, lol.

Yes. Females can lay unfertilized eggs, without a male being present.

Albino C. aeneus are frequent spawners. There is no way to determine when they will spawn, again. That is dependent upon food, water parameters, temperature, tank mates, conditioning, age - and the list goes on. You can rest assured they will spawn, again.

That gives you plenty of time to do the requisite research to enjoy the delight of a successful Cory spawning. Good luck. - Frank

Frank, Thanks for the info, I'll get on with some more research, and hopefully one day will end up with a successful spawning.
