Hi I am new to the site but have been raising fish my entire life I have breed angles discus and kribs with no problem.
I have a 7 Cory colony that I have breed 1 time have have a tank full of babies,
My question is do I need to worry about my females they are gravid again and I am lacking space at the time to have them lay another clutch of eggs
any advice would be great
thanks Wayne

Let them lay the eggs. Either the eggs will get eaten, or the wigglers, will. Either way, free, nutritious food for the tankmates - or the Corys, themselves. - Frank

Agree with frank, there is pretty much no chance that eggs or fry arent going to be munched by tank mates. So Just leave them in their and let nature take itss course :)

Thanks guys I have had angles lay and eat the eggs in the main tank. will I need to drop the temp to get the cats to lay?

From my experience I do not believe that the overall temp of water determines wether the cories breed or not. All I would say do a small water change with cool water as i find this can help trigger cory mating aswell as feeding your cory alot of live food like daphnia (They will believe this is good breeding conditions as there is alot of good food for their young).
If/when your cory spawn the eggs should take approx 3 days to hatch..
Hope I've helped :)

Imogen.

P.s Keep us posted :)

Tell this to my C.pygmaeus. Tank population now increases by at least one fish per week despite my best efforts to remove the eggs and juvenile cories definitely eating eggs too.

HAHA, really?!?
Gosh, you must have alot of cory now! Wish it was that way round for me! I have to get the eggs straight otherwise my guppies, platy or tetra gobble the eggs super quick - they are evil!

25+ in the main shoal plus babies hiding in the gravel. At some point their 10g tank should get too crowded to breed.
