can I use airstones in a marine setup please?

You can, but expect huge amounts of salt creep and the bubbles to be blown all round the tank.

Also air bubbles can contribute to flesh damage in some corals, as well as certain marine diseases, especially in seahorses...make sure your livestock is compatible with air bubbles.
