I've got a 1' long air strip which i have connected to a pump for my aquarium. Are there any negative side effects of having air pumped into the tank? Aesthetically, it looks great, however i'm more concerned with the health of my fish, and tank. Once my tank is done clearing up (i.e. i put my fish in before my fishless cycle was completed, and now its all screwed up), i'll take some pictures if you're interested.

pumping air into your tank will increase O2 levels which the fish will like. the down side is that you can add fumes spores and any other air born contaminents. if you decorate the room or a room near by, turn off the air pump and also, don't use air freshaners because these can also damage the fish.
