My Rio125 is nearly ready to accept fish from the old tank, cycling is progressing well.
My query is about adding air to the water.
I have always used an air pump putting air through an air stone and into the water pump outlet on the old tank.

The Juwel pump has a facility to add air, but if I attach a tube to allow air into the water it is very noisy.
Is the Juwel "Air Venturi Kit" any quieter?
is it worth getting one?
or should I keep on using my existing air pump with new air stones?

TIA,
Boris

I have found the the venturi air systems vary greatly in noise level.
the juwel ones can be adjusted so as to reduce air intake and therefor
noise. IMHO its best to stick with airstones.
HTH :)

Using a airstone or venturi does not directly add air into the aquarium, all it does is expand the surface area of the water so gas exchange can take place faster and stocking limits can be pushed a little further. With modern power filters there is no actual need for a air stone in the tank as the surface movement the filter provides supplies all the oxygen your tank needs, with the juwel filters just make sure the directional nozzle is pointed upwards toward the surface. Adding a airstone is a entirely optional thing depending on whether you like the column of bubbles in the tank.

I was told air stones are not needed, my filter should be ok though shouldnt it? FLUVAL 4, the fish shouldnt be short on air.

Also i was told that air stones can be a bad thing especially if you have live plants because it can take out some of the Co2 in the water when the bubbles hit the serface.
