As I've turned my filter down a bit today as once fish were in the tank the current seemed a little strong, whirlpool springs to mind  .

I'm now worried about the oxygen so i was thinking of adding an air stone.

Now, do I have to have it running all the time or could it be on a timer and only operate for, lets say, a couple of hours staggered through the day?

Good idea & helpfull to the fish or waste of time & stupid? :)

don't worry as long as ur filter outlet is about 1/2cm below the water surface it should be fine ur fish will tell u if there isn't enought air in the water.

the air stone dosn't do that much arination u wanna get one of those CO2 defusers but instead of CO2 use ur air pump u can have it on all day or on a timer whatever u like
