What size air pump would you recommend?
I have a 20 gallon tank with two airstone's in it. I recently purchased a Tetratec AirPump 150 and I think it's too strong of a pump, it is also pretty loud. Should I downsize to a Tetratec AirPump 50? Would this help with the noise or should I look into another brand? Please help.
Thank you

Hi Aquafan, My advice would be to buy an air valve set, they allow they flow of air to the air stone and really do work, a darn sight cheaper than a new air pump. For the niose, try placing your pump on an old mouse pad or some bubble wrap, this should lower the noise you're getting. HTH Steve.

I have the same air pump, and yes it is rather loud. I have heard that Rena pumps are not as loud, but they are not cheap. :)

I agree with above, you need a gang valve to adjust the airflow. I have this same pump and mine has adjusters for each outlet to adjust the flow. I don't know how well they work though as I use a gang valve set up the back of my tank for easy adjustment. As for the noise problem, I posted a thread awhile back about it. I got some great ideas from people. I ended up moving my pump into the cabinet underneath the tank and set it on a mousepad. Here is the link if want to take a look at the great help these guys gave me.
