I bought a tetra air pump from Pets at Home several weeks ago. Going from recomendation rather than my gut feeling I bought a big pump. I only wanted a little one just to give a little effect!
I was wondering... Is there a way of reducing the output?
Workmates have suggested little clamps on the pipe but I can only see that doing more harm to the pump than anything.

Back pressure is bad for pumps, it shortens the diaphram life. You are better off getting a two or three outlet manifold & bleeding some of the air off. A longer length of air line on the bleed line with the end stuck in a sponge or rag muffles any pump or hissing noise.

Thanks guy's. I was going to do as you suggested, but found it easier jus to buy a smaller one. It works a treat.
My floating plants are now static and only a small amount of movement at the surface near the filter. Lovely jubbly. :hyper:
