Air Curtain Bubble Problem

Hey all :D
Hope you are all cool.

A few weeks ago we installed an air stone in our tank, but the bubbles were causing huge amounts of water to accumulate on the lid of the tank. We tried putting the purspex cover in but that just accumulated on top!

After a read up on here we have now put in an air curtain instead. It is attached via suckers to the back of the tank. My worry is that the bubbles are still quite strong and spraying up to the lid, and also the holes through which the power leads and air leads pass at the back of the tank.

We cant drop the water level because it is already as low as we can get it without it being seen. We have also tried using a regulator in the pipe line, but this causes quite a hiss whilst it lets out the excess.

Am I missing something stupid? Thanks in advance for your help for someone new to fish :)

Matt

I had the same problem. If you try to bury the curtain deeply under the substrate, the bubbles become fewer and bigger. When I done this, I didn't get as much water 'spitting' onto the aquarium lid. :good:

Adjusting the flow decreases the bubbles, it also helps

yeh thats what i did , tends to make the bubbles slower and larger.. i liked that :|

Thanks all you lovely people :D

Is it ok to bury a 'blue stone' curtain?

The pump itself isnt adjustable, but they give you an 'in-line valve' which has a thumbscrew adjuster on it - but this was what hissed as it let out the excess.

Thanks for the swift responses! You ROCK! :)

its perfectly ok.. you might me disapointed with the results at first but bare in mind that the bubbles will shift the subtrate and you can always do that yourself to get a flow/look thats youre happy with :) xx

The curtain IS supposed to be buried underneath the substrate.
The in-line valve helps to decrease the air flow so IMO you should use it.
