Are the air bubbles really necessary for a fish tank? I currently have a 10 gallon with 2 white clouds, 3 platys, and 1 betta. I have 6 live plants in there now.

Hi guys!

Air bubbles don't make much of a difference to the levels of dissolved oxygen in the tank as they go to the surface too quickly and burst there.

You need surface movement to mix the air.

If you have an internal filter, best thing to do is set it to disturb the water surface and if your filter is external, get a spray bar and set it at/just above the surface.

The bubbles do look pretty though!
:D

Some fish like them as they like to play in the bubbles, helps with aeration, but i doubt your betta will like it as they don't like currents.
