Hi,

Been looking at my tank tonight and I have an Aiptasia problem, I have about 3 (i can see) in my tank, but also have loads of these white blobs (very technical name), one of the Aiptasia is coming out of the blobs, so i presume the blob is some sort of egg? Anyway I have loads of blobs, so could have a very big Aiptasia problem. Here is a pic of the blob...

Do you think if I get a couple of pepermints they will sort my problem out, if not any other ideas?

Thanks, Michael

hey Mike

Have a lookie at this Asp Post

As for the blobs - not entirely sure tbh - but if the Asp 's are emergining from them, then I would milliput over them

i have these same "blobs" in my tank! dont seem to be doing alot though!

ill keep a sharp eye on em for the future!

I think your blobs are sponge, just a coincidence that the nuisance aiptasia is growing there. Sponge is a sign the tank is maturing and filters bacteria and DOc. It is good. It does dies if exposes to air, so if you move a rock, be sure to keep it submerged constantly, in a bowl or something. The dies off from new live rock is mostly the sponge dying.

I would get a peppermint shrimp. The type I have do eat them. If you kill them chemically, they will pass a lot of spores into the water column, so you will be chemically treating them forever....

Your rock has beuatiful coralline! Strong work!

Cheers guys,

I will buy some on the weekend.

How many is good.. I already have 2 cleaners and 1 blood red though!

Michael
