I have done a 125 reef tank some 20 years ago and enjoyed it tremendously. I had the tank for 4 years. It is time to get back to fish keeping. I want to do a freshwater until I possibly move in 9 to 10 months. With the experience I already have I want to work with a 16 to 29 gallon ALL IN ONE budget tank. Space is a little tight for now. This will help me get started again. I have done some research and like what Fluval AIO tanks do. Does anyone have ideas what works best?

Hi and welcome to the forum :)

Sorry, I can't help with the Fluval but others on here might have some experience with them. :)

I've looked at these for a friend with limited space and they seem to be good value for money.
That said, it is always a good idea to get the biggest you can afford and find space for.

Smaller tanks are harder to maintain, contrary to popular first impressions. ;)
Plus, you'll be limited to what you can put in it, (my friend is having shrimp and chili rasbora) and a bigger tank is always more future-proofed...because it's more than likely you WILL want to expand your fishy empire.

Mines a super fish at 16 Gallons I have 7 assorted mollies(yes I know too many due an upgrade soon) a dwarf gourami 3 guppy fry and 1 mollie fry

I didnt think about future proofing and now I’m frantically looking for the right size tank

Luckily there all very happy at the moment.

but it’s definitely not a permanent home for them and I have absolutely no chance if I want more until I get a bigger tank

I decided to go with a Fluval Spec 16 gallon for now. No plants. Just dragon rock or a tall driftwood for decor. A Ram or two with several rummynose - starting with just a few rummirs first after I cycle the tank. Keeping it simple for the next 8 or 9 months. After the move I'll go bigger and bolder.
