I just finally treated my tiger barb and my one mollie for ick and tonight i was watching them as usuall and i notive another one of my mollies has something around its mouth. I just recently took out a barb that was ataching all my guppies and the smaller tigers so i dont know if stress could be a reason for it. The mollie that is now sick has what looks like a kinda im guessing maybe ick but im not sure. Its only around the lips and the lips are really puffy and white. Just the lips thats it no where else. What is this and how can i treat it and not kill all the tetras that are in my tank?

In my experience, Mollies tend to like a bit of aquarium salt added to their water otherwise they tend to get aliments like mouth fungus and the shimmys (clamped fins/ body shaking violently) but you need to know what else you have in your tank as some epecies don't like salt. Boesmani rainbows tend to get this condition of white fur around the mouth as well, and I found that a little salt cured this also.

Hi I had a Black Mollie, and it died, very similar symptoms, but it had cloudy eyes, and looked a bit shabby, i still have a platinum Mollie, which is poorly, i have some medicine for her, but her eyes are slightly bulging, and her mouth looks like shes had a stroke :-( She doesnt look well at all, and i know its probably down to my ammonia, i had it checked today, and it was high :-( i have given a 25% partial water change, added all the chemicals that the shop gave me, and so far things seem to look ok, but my platinum mollie still looks sad -_- Along with my Black Mollie that died yesterday i also lost a Silver Shark recently added to the tank, so i think the ammonia killed him :-(
