Ah! The Galaxia Melted!

I'm really new to this, and only am reacting to the things that go on in the BF's and BF's roommates tank. Both had big, healthy Galaxia's (split from on another quite some time ago). Several weeks ago (8 weeks maybe?) the BF's roommates Galaxia melted overnight- last night the BF's galaxia did the same. Both have small living bits that survive, but the majority is gone. so... why exactly does this happen?

Huh, well there's a lot of reasons a coral might melt, we'll need more info to really figure it out. Tank size, flowrate, chemistry, temperature, lighting, other tank inhabitants, and a whole bunch of other things come to mind...
