I've just started stocking my tank, and I'm just going to be going with Barbs, as they are my favourites.
I've started with 3 Tiger Barbs, however, one in particular has taken control of the entire tank, and is making life extremely difficult for the others (one in particular).
I'm concerned that the dominant barb will continue this behaviour, probably resulting in the other barb dying, as it is completely stressed out.
Will introducing more fish eliminate this problem?
I want to get 3 Green Tiger Barbs next, will they help this problem by distracting the aggressive Tiger Barb from the the stressed out Tiger Barb, or will this not make any difference at all?
Over the coming weeks I want to introduce Golden and Rosy Barbs also, to maybe around 10 - 12 fish in total.
I have a 90 litre tank which measures 2 ft in length.

I had the worse luck with those guys! I started with 6-had fighting problems. The LFS said to make the group bigger which I did,and still no luck.If I added another breed of fish-they tortured the poor things.Seriously,I use to call them my dwarf piranas..Had them for quite a few years,I couldn't believe how big they got,and til this day still have yet to see them that big any where else.As nice looking as they are,I personally would never buy them again. I don't know too many people personally that have been able to say that they didn't have problems.I see alot of people in the forums that have them in their tank thoughso maybe it was just a freak thing for me. Good luck!

Adding more fish may or may not help the problem. Sometimes a fish just picks on a particular fish or two. Is there anywhere for the fish to hide as this will help reduce the stress on the harrassed fish. If not try to put something in the tank that will provide some security for the fish. Plants or rocks or anyplace where a distressed fish can hide.
However, with some tiger barbs there is just no stopping them if the fish they are picking on hides they will start with someone else and like devs said as nice as they are to look at they can be just plain nasty. So try to provide shelter and if that doesnt work try to find a new home for the bully.

Thanks guys for your help and advice.

I'm going to go with getting some more Barbs, in the hope that Mr Grumpy, might lose a bit of focus on the others and settle down.
If this fails, I will simply remove him from the tank. Not only are the other two stressed out, but so am I!

The tank has plenty of plants and rocks etc for the others to keep out of the way, but he actively seeks them out.

I'm afriad the power has gone to his head!
