I was woundering why my younge male Boesmani sometimes chases the female Boesmani around if she gets too close to him.... Why does he do this? The female has not sustained any marks from the male but she might not be enjoying his little "tag" games around the tank. I just hope he'll get over this aggresiveness toward the female and start acting peaceful like a good Boesmani should! :)

sounds to me that you "young" male is becomming an adult male.

i would keep an eye out on this, my 2 parkinsoni rainbows use to do the same, and now one is dead, with no reason why and nobody ever found out why.I still dont know which one died, i thought it was male, but survivor is showing some strong colors consistent with male as well. Hard to tell without them side by side.

How many other fish are there in the tank? My male did the same thing to 2 other rainbows and im thinking that they must act aggressive when not in schools of 6+.

There are numerous stories about M. boesemani rainbows being aggressive.
It's best to keep bows in large schools, so the aggression can be divided amongst multiple fish. Otherwise if you've got a bully who keeps picking on a single victim, the victim will eventually be bullied to death.

But it's definitely not unheard of. Also, if you keep multiple males, they'll keep each other busy, and pay less attention to the females.
